Kanye the Pharaoh

In Media on July 25, 2010 at 2:10 am

If I could think of one man who would spend 30,000 dollars on a stupid, ugly necklace representing the Egyptian god Horace- it would be Kanye West. LOOK AT THIS THING, it doesn’t even look cool, at ALL. Plus, to my knowledge, Kanye isn’t even Egyptian.

But its the black entertainment television awards.

ohhhhhhhhhhh…

Seriously though, you think that he would have cooled his act down a little bit since it was his first televised appearance since that infamous/amazing night at the MVA’s when he stormed the stage in a drunken stupor and stole Taylor’s glory.

Nope.

Maybe a few close friends even warned Kanye about wasting his money on this monstrosity, but then again,

YOU CANT TELL HIM NOTHIN’

Andromeda Strain

In Books/Literature, Reviews on July 16, 2010 at 10:38 pm

I just finished reading “the Andromeda Strain”. It was highly dissatisfying.  Saying this pains me because Chrichton is a genius and I love all his other work, but this book, in my opinion, was sub-par. People who have had the unfornate experiance of wasting their time with this novel will remember that it starts off with a bang when the text is apparently revealed to be a top secret government document. However, even this is unconvincing.

When a satellite crashes into the city Piedmont, Arizona, all the inhabitants die of an unknown cause. Interested, I continued to read. The satellite is retrieved and brought to a top secret lab to be analyzed.

The rest of the book, up until the last 2 chapters, consists of research on the satellite.

BORING research. I didn’t pick a science fiction, to ACTUALLY learn about science.

As the book concluded with the dangerous alien bacteria being safely contained in the laboratory, all my hope of the book having a grand finale, (I.E. a global catastrophe) was squandered.

Unlike most of Chrichtons books, Andromeda Strain didn’t include any scandalous sex, murder, or disaster, which happen to be three of my favorite components in any novel.

A scientist could probably be the only person to find intrigue in this dull book.

Ant ideas about what should I read next?

La Sirena Grill

In Restaurants, Reviews on July 10, 2010 at 2:31 am

In Laguna Beach, you get a ton of different choices when you want Mexican food, however there are a few standouts. La Sirena Grill is one of them.

If you are a true fan of authentic mexican food, check this place out.

If you are a little hesitant when you see the prices, you have to take into consideration all the little things. First off all the tortillas are made in the store. If you’ve never had homemade tortillas this might not seem like a big deal, but for those of us that have, we all know you cant beat the taste. Secondly, La Sirena Grill has so many options when it comes to ordering what you want. I was there the other day, and I ate the calamari tacos. It was the first time I ordered them, and I was expecting a small plate with minimal squid. However, my tacos were HUGE and full of fresh calamari!

If you aren’t a hugely obese person, I would recommend splitting most of the plates because of the large portion sizes.

If you want to check out the menu, or contact the restaurant go to this site:

2nd Times a Charm

In Local, Photography on July 5, 2010 at 4:54 pm

My sister is an animal fanatic, so naturally she would be the one to capture an injured hawk and keep it as a house pet. The first time this bird showed up at the house, it was dismissed as a freakish occurrence, however, once it showed up again we knew it was injured.

From this picture you can CLEARLY see that it is a bird of prey and that if it had the chance, it would bite through your finger like a damn toothpick. It currently resides in … my bathroom, and is fed a steady diet of dead mice that are choked to death in my sink.
